This Privacy Policy describes how KVBA ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with your use of the “Layer Navigator" add-on (the "Add-on") for Google Slides™.
Our guiding principle is to minimize data access. The Add-on is designed to operate almost entirely within your Google Account™. We do not have our own servers, and we do not collect or store your personal data on any external systems.
1. How We Use Google™ User Data
To provide its features, the Add-on requires your permission to access specific Google™ user data. Below is a detailed explanation of what data we access and for what specific purpose.
- Google Slides™ Presentations:
- Use: This is the core permission. It allows the Add-on to read the structure of your currently open presentation (layers, shapes, groups) and to modify it based on your actions within the sidebar (e.g., changing colors, reordering layers, inserting assets). The Add-on only acts on the presentation you are actively working on.
- User-Specific Settings (Properties Service):
- Use: The Add-on saves your custom settings, such as your branding color palettes and saved text styles. This data is stored using Google's built-in
PropertiesService
, which links the data directly to your Google Account™. This allows your personal settings to be available in any presentation where you use the Add-on.
- Basic Account Information:
- Use: We use your email address solely to verify your license status for the paid features of the Add-on (e.g., to check if your trial period is active or if you have purchased the full version). This information is not used for marketing or any other purpose.
2. Data Protection Mechanisms
We take the security of your data seriously. Our data protection mechanisms are based on leveraging Google's own robust security infrastructure:
- No External Servers: The Add-on does not transmit, process, or store any of your data on our own or any third-party servers. All operations occur directly between your browser and Google's secure servers.
- Secure Transmission: All communication between the Add-on and Google's services is encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS protocol.
- Principle of Least Privilege: We only request the minimum permissions necessary for the Add-on to function. For example, we request access to the
currentonly
presentation, not all of your presentations.
3. Data Retention and Deletion
You are in full control of your data. The Add-on does not retain any data independently; it is all stored within your Google Account™.
- Data Retention:
- Presentation Data: Remains in your Google Slides™ files for as long as you keep them.
- User Settings (Colors, Styles): Are stored in your User Properties and are retained as long as you have the Add-on installed.
- Data Deletion:
- You can delete your presentation content at any time by editing your Google Slides™.
- You can delete all your stored settings (color palettes, text styles) by uninstalling the Add-on.
- You can revoke all permissions granted to this Add-on at any time by visiting your Google Account's™ security settings page. Revoking access will prevent the Add-on from functioning.
